Redirect Failed Error When Accessing Email Login on Mobile

When accessing the email login button on my.otc.edu on mobile devices, some users are encountering a “redirect failed” error. This article will explain the behavior of the error and provide a fix.

Error Behavior

  • A user goes to my.otc.edu and tries to click on email login on their mobile device.

  • A page tries to load for a moment before it says ‘redirect failed’ and remains on the my.otc.edu page.

  • The user can access myOTC and Canvas without error, it is just the email login where this happens.

The Fix

  • Go to the phone's Settings.

  • Go to Apps.

  • Select Outlook from the app list.

  • Scroll down to ‘set default app’ and tap on it.

  • Untoggle "open supported links".

  • Go back to my.otc.edu and attempt to log back into your email. It should now work.
