Benefits Open Enrollment

To begin Benefits open enrollment

  1. Log into MyOTC using your Ozarks Tech username and password

  2. Click on the hamburger menu, and go to Employment → Employee → Benefits

  3. Next to Pending Elections, click the blue button which says “Start Here”.

    1. If you have already started benefit selection and you return later, it will say “Resume Enrollment.”

  4. Benefits elections from the previous year are displayed in the box labeled Election Summary.

If there are no changes

If the items in your Election Summary look correct, and you want to make no changes:

  • In the Election Summary box, click the blue Review and Submit button.

Note: If you choose to enroll in a Cafeteria Plan/Flexible Spending election, it must be completed each year. This does not copy from a previous year to a current year.

If your benefits are listed correctly under Election Summary, but the Review and Submit button is grayed out rather than blue, check your dependents and beneficiaries for elections which include them.

Manage Dependents/Beneficiaries

If you need to add a new dependent or beneficiary, you can do so using the Manage Dependents/Beneficiaries link near the top of the main election screen.

If you want to replace an existing dependent/beneficiary with someone new, DO NOT overwrite an existing person. Overwriting an existing dependent or beneficiary will produce errors.

To correctly add a new dependent or beneficiary:

  1. Click Add Another

  2. At the bottom of the page, a new option will appear.

  3. Select whether this is a Person or an Organization (such as a charity, business, or a trust).

  4. Fill in at least the required fields.

  5. Click Save in the bottom right.

At this time, there is no way to remove an existing dependent/beneficiary. If someone listed as a dependent/beneficiary on this screen is not selected along with a benefit for a period of three years, they will be removed automatically.


Medical Insurance

To view or change your medical coverage, click “Choose an Election.”

Next to each election option, you can use the icons image-20251103-192655.png to view the plan information and the rate information.

Select your preferred option.

  • If you select a plan which covers a spouse and/or child(ren), be sure to select the dependent(s) to be covered on that plan before clicking Save.

    • Be sure to select the correct dependent for the coverage.

      • For example, if you have selected coverage for Child(ren), select your child(ren) as the dependents, and not a spouse or beneficiary.

  • If you select a High Deductible plan, you will receive an email with instructions to set up an HSA with UMB Bank.

  • If you decide to Waive this benefit, you will receive an email with a form to fill out and return to HR regarding your existing coverage.

When your selection is completed, click Save in the top right corner.


Dental Insurance

To view or change your dental coverage, click “Choose an Election.”

Next to each election option, you can use the icons image-20251103-192655.png to view the plan information and the rate information.

Select your preferred option.

  • If you select a plan which covers a spouse and/or child(ren), be sure to select the dependent(s) to be covered on that plan before clicking Save.

    • Be sure to select the correct dependent for the coverage.

      • For example, if you have selected coverage for Child(ren), select your child(ren) as the dependents, and not a spouse or beneficiary.

  • If you select Waive this benefit, you will receive an email with a form to fill out and return to HR regarding your existing coverage.


Group Life Insurance (“Life-Employee”)

This is provided by Ozarks Tech to all full-time employees, and cannot be waived.

  • Select the option listed.

  • Select 1 or more beneficiaries.

    • Contingent beneficiaries only receive benefits if something happens to both the employee and the Primary beneficiary.

  • The percentages listed must be whole numbers, and must total 100% for Primary beneficiaries.

    • If you select Contingent beneficiaries, the Contingent total must also equal 100%.

    • If the total is not 100%, you will receive an error message when you click Save.

Flexible Spending (“Cafeteria Plan”)

Note: If you choose to enroll in a Cafeteria Plan/Flexible Spending election, it must be completed each year. This does not copy from a previous year to a current year.

To view or change your Cafeteria Plan option, click “Choose an Election.”

Next to each election option, you can use the icons image-20251103-192655.png to view the plan information and the rate information.

Select the coverage you prefer, or select “Waive this benefit.”

  • Only select Dependent/Child Care for children 13 years or younger. This option covers child care costs, not medical coverage for a dependent/child.

  • The “Flex Spending (LP) - HDHP Dental/Vision” option goes along with the high deductible health plan, and can only be used for dental and vision purposes.

  • If you choose a Flexible Spending plan, you will be prompted to enter a Pay Period Amount to be deducted from each pay period.

    • Amount entered must be a whole number.

    • Do not enter the annual amount!


Supplemental Life Insurance (“Life-Additional”)

  • This option is only shown for people who already have this coverage.

  • If you do not see this option, and you would like to add Supplemental Life Insurance, contact benefits@otc.edu.

Select from the options provided.

  • Next to each election option, you can use the icons image-20251103-192655.png to view the plan information and the rate information.

  • If you choose to add coverage for Spouse or Child(ren), you will not need to select a beneficiary. The employee is automatically the beneficiary of these plans.

    • Premiums for children are for one or more children, not per child.

  • If you select a plan which covers a spouse and/or child(ren), be sure to select the dependent(s) to be covered on that plan before clicking Save.

Vision Insurance

To view or change your dental coverage, click “Choose an Election.”

  • If you select a plan which covers a spouse and/or child(ren), be sure to select the dependent(s) to be covered on that plan before clicking Save.

      • For example, if you have selected coverage for Child(ren), select your child(ren) as the dependents, and not a spouse or beneficiary.

  • If you are not interested in Vision Insurance, simply do not select an option.


Completing enrollment

Once completed, all of your selected options will show under Election Summary.

If your benefits are listed correctly under Election Summary, but the Review and Submit button is grayed out rather than blue, check your dependents and beneficiaries for elections which include them.

When you are sure that you are happy with your selections, click Review and Submit.

On the next screen, review your selections for accuracy. Then check “I have read and accepted these terms”, and click “Submit.”
