Voicemail setup

These instructions apply to Cisco Desk Phones, which most people at the college have.

Instructions

  1. Touch the messages button on your phone. This is usually the button with the envelope icon or voicemail icon (the same type that cell phones use).

  2. You will be prompted to enter your PIN, followed by pound (#). The default PIN is usually your four-digit extension.

  3. You will be guided through self-enrollment. This includes the following steps:

    1. Record your name

    2. Record a personal greeting or choose the default

    3. Information if you are listed in the directory

Changing voicemail, message settings, and preferences

  1. Press the messages button on your phone and supply your PIN.

  2. Press 4 for Setup Options. 

    1.  Change Greeting - Press 1

    2. Message Settings - Press 2

    3. Preferences - Press 3

    4. Transfer Settings - Press 4

    5. Help - Press 0

  3. You can exit any menu by pressing the star (*)

If you are not at your desk and need to access this menu remotely:

  1. From any personal phone, dial 417-447-7600, then

  2. * (star) followed by your 4 digit phone extension

  3. You’ll be prompted for your 4 digit pin followed by #
    Note: Your 4 digit pin is by default your 4 digit extension unless you have changed it.

This will get you into your voice mailbox settings just like you had hit the messages button on your phone.

Setting up Holiday/Alternate Voicemail

  1. Log into the Voicemailbox you want to set a holiday or alternate greeting on.

    • If this is yours, you can hit the voicemail button on your phone mentioned above and login with the PIN.

    • If this is a call center mailbox, you'll need to log into that one.

      • If you have a shortcut to that voicemail on your phone, you can touch that, then hit the Voicemail button on the phone.

      • If not, dial 7600 then * followed by the four-digit extension of the call center number. You will be prompted for the PIN to log in.

  2. Once logged in, select 4 for Setup Options

  3. Then, 1 for Greetings

  4. Then, 3 for Edit Other Greetings

  5. Then, 3 for Alternate Greeting

  6. The wizard will then play the current greeting, and prompt you if you'd like to record a new greeting, enable this greeting, etcetera.

  7. Record a new greeting as desired.

  8. Enable the greeting once complete. During enabling the greeting, the wizard will walk you through setting up a date/time for the alternate greeting to end. You can select by number of days or a specific date and time.
