Instructions for using the TV and media equipment, using either the in-room computer, or a laptop, or both.

Using the Media:

  • Use the control to power the Promethean board on/off.

  • Select PC on the control to display computer content on the Promethean board.

  • There is a USB cable below the computer that can be used with a flash drive.

Personal Device:

HDMI

  • Select Laptop on the control.

  • Connect your laptop to the HDMI Cable (behind the left side of TV). Note: There is an adapter on the cable for use if your device doesn't have an HDMI port.

  • Enables Apple users to wirelessly mirror their personal display over to the big screen.

  • Note: Every classroom should have AirServer capability. If you find that a classroom does not have AirServer capability and you would like it to be added, contact the Help Desk (contact information below).

Using the Promethean Board:

  • Push the button on the bottom right hand corner to power the board on/off.

  • Clock - tapping on the clock on the home screen opens the timer, alarm, and countdown sections of the clock.

  • Notifications - swiping down from the top will show your any new notifications. 

  • Android Controls - swiping up from the bottom gives you more control over your android device; from here you can adjust volume, go back to a previous page, return to the Home page, view recent pages, go to screen shots, and reboot the device.

  • App Manager - Access all the apps installed on the device and access device settings.

  • Widgets - Opens up a new screen where you can add many types of widgets which can be found in the app store.

  • Toolbar - Select the pink toolbar icon, that can be moved anywhere on the home page by pressing, holding, and moving. The toolbar allows you to access:

  • Home page - Takes you back to the home screen

  • Instant white board - Makes it easy to write something quickly on ActivConnect.

  • Screen Capture - Works just like instant white board, allows you to take a picture of your current screen and write on top of it.

  • Previous screen button - allows you to go back to the previous screen you were on.

Adding Profiles:

  • Create your own profile and keep your apps and preferences separate

  • Select the App Manager icon and select Settings, then Users.

  • Select Add New Profile, and choose either User or Restricted Profile depending on requirements.

  • Select Ok, then Set Up Now.

    • Note: This creates a clone of the current profile, so the quick launcher on the home screen will not work.

  • You will need to remove the current bubbles and add the apps you want.

  • Rename your profile by going back into Settings, select Users, tap and hold your profile, and type desired name.

    • Note: To quickly switch to a different profile, swipe down and double tap the profile icon, and select the profile.

  • To personalize profiles even more, go back to the App Manager, select the three dots in the right hand corner, and select Preferences to change settings and customize profile.

  • Go to the Marketplace to view resources published by other educators. You can post resources to the Marketplace as well.

  • You can display the content on the Promethean board, and if permitted connect students' devices through a simple code provided on the screen.

  • You will be able to send content to students for instant participation.

  • If you don't find exactly what you need in the Marketplace, you can create your own lesson with materials that you already have such as PowerPoints, videos, PDFs, etc.

  • You can also build activities anytime or to go along with any lesson you've already created.

  • Create formative assessment opportunities with a wide range of questions and question types, and view responses in real time.

    • Note: No class setup is required, unless you want to create classes and groups to be able to refer back to the data later or generate reports to give insight about students or the questions themselves.

  • You can create assignments and attach resources, such as the lessons themselves or rubric for guidance.

  • There is also a badge system which allows both you and your students to track progress.

When Finished:

  • Sign out of the computer, and select OFF on the controller to power down the TV.
