Microsoft Teams in Canvas

If Microsoft Teams for Classes does not exist in your course:

1. In your Canvas course go to Settings

2. Click on the Apps tab at the top
   

   

3. Click the button View App Configurations
   

   

4. Click +App
   

   

5. From the Configuration Type dropdown – Choose By ClientID
   

   

6. In the Client ID box enter the code 170000000000570

7. You should get a confirmation prompt for the tool. Click Install.
   

   

8. You will need to refresh your Canvas page to see the item in your course navigation.

If you would like to enable Microsoft Teams for your course:

1. Open the settings page in your Canvas course.

2. Select the Integrations tab.

3. Enable Microsoft Sync via the toggle button.

4. Click Sync Now.

   

5. After a minute or two, your classroom Team will auto-create in Microsoft Teams for classes. If you have the Teams desktop app open, you will see this pop-up:

   

6. Back in Canvas, open your Navigation tab and then drag the Microsoft Teams link into your course navigation links, then click save:

7. Select the link to launch the app.

8. When you have set up your Teams channel the way you want it to appear and are ready to accept students into the channel, click activate within the top banner in Microsoft Teams.

Note: This Team may be manually removed once it is no longer needed, otherwise it will expire after one year.
