Private printing on copiers

There may be times where you need to set a password/PIN to release a print job.  To set a password/PIN to release a print job with sensitive information (evaluations, applications, etc...) at a centralized printer, follow the instructions below.

Setting up a File for Private Printing

  1. Open a file for printing, choose File > Print.

  2. Click Printer Properties or Properties depending on the application.

  3. Select Private Print from the Print Job dropdown menu on the Basic tab.

  4. Select the ellipsis next to Private Print.

  5. Type in a password/PIN and click OK.

    • Choose any combination of numbers and letters, 1-63 characters long.

  6. Set any other print or finishing settings and click OK to accept all settings.

  7. Click Print to send the job to the copier's queue.

Retrieving Private Print Jobs from Copiers

Note: These directions may vary depending on model of copier.

  1. If prompted, log into the printer with your OTC username and password (this only occurs on PaperCut printers).

    Once you log in, your account info will be displayed.

  2. Press the Home button on the printer (the house icon):

    The home button is often shaped like a house.

  3. Press print on the touch-screen panel:

    The print button is on the touch-screen panel.

  4. Select your username and then press OK:

    Tap your username on the list.

    Tap OK after your username is highlighted.

  5. Enter in the password you set for your private job to verify your print job:

  6. Tap the private job you wish to print:

    Tap on the print job from the list.

  7. Once highlighted, tap on Print:

    Tap on Print once your job is highlighted.

  8. Your private print job will now print. Once you are done, press the person button under the home button to log out:

    The button that has a person and a key on it will log you out of the copier.
Confirm your logout.
