Office 365 ATP Safe Links

OTC has implemented Microsoft’s ATP Safe Links to keep faculty and students more safe from malicious emails.

Below you will see examples of how this will affect you. First, when you hover over links they will start with https://nam12.safelinks.protection.outlook.com and have a long string of characters as shown below. When clicking those links they will still go to the same place that the original link specified.

Some links will be completely rewritten and shown in the longform safelinks version. These still go to the same place. If the link was originally http://www.google.com then it will still go to google when it is clicked.

If you click a link in an email and it goes to a warning page similar to this one below then that means the link you clicked is malicious and the email is SPAM and should be deleted.

Safe Links does provide a level of protection against malicious emails. But please still be on the look out for SPAM and if an email is out of place or from unknown sources then please do not click links or open attachments from those emails.
