DVD "Cannot play media" error
Some commercial DVDs simply refuse to play in VLC Player. This article describes what to do for Instructors who are attempting to play a Commercial DVD with VLC Player but get any form of "Cannot play media" error.
Workaround:
Open the DVD in Media Player Classic (MPC-HC) instead.
Search for Media Player Classic and click to open it.
Click File and then Open DVD/BD..., or hit Ctrl+D on your keyboard.
Click the drive that represents your DVD/BD player under Devices and Drives.
Your DVD should play.
If you cannot get your DVD to play, please contact the Help Desk at (417) 447-7548. Call while you have the DVD in the drive, and have your computer number handy, so we can troubleshoot remotely while the problem is happening.
