Firefox bookmarks: importing and exporting backups
It is important to understand how Firefox bookmarks are managed. It is good practice to keep backups of Firefox bookmarks to prevent data loss. Restoring bookmarks from a previous backup is important for quickly resuming productivity.
Creating a Backup of Firefox Bookmarks:
Open Firefox and select the three line menu in the upper right corner, then Bookmarks.
Select Manage Bookmarks.
The Library Bookmark Manager window will appear. Select Import and Backup in the menu bar, and then Backup.
A Save dialog box will appear. The backup should be saved into the user documents folder.
Note: It is strongly advised to save the bookmarks backup file onto a network location. Saving the file to the Documents folder is preferred.
You have successfully saved a backup of Firefox Bookmarks.
Restoring Firefox Bookmarks from a Backup:
Open Firefox and select the three line menu in the upper right corner, then Bookmarks.
Select Manage Bookmarks.
The Library Bookmark Manager window will appear. Select Import and Backup in the menu bar, then Restore, then Choose File....
A dialog box will appear. Select the backup file saved in the previous steps.
Note: Restoring bookmarks from a backup will destroy any bookmarks created in addition to the backup.
Click OK if you agree to the backup procedure.
You have successfully restored a backup of Firefox Bookmarks.
