Checking for and installing Windows updates

To check for Windows updates:

  1. Click Start, and then Settings

  2. Select Update & Security

  3. Select Windows Update. (It may automatically be selected.)

  4. Even if it says that you’re up to date, click Check for updates.

  5. If your system finds updates to install, you will see a message similar to this:

  6. When convenient, save your work and click Restart now to apply the updates. This could be at the end of your work day, as the update(s) may take some time to apply.

In some instances, installing one update will reveal further updates. If updates were found and installed, follow this process to check for updates again until no further updates are found, and your system is up to date.
