Microsoft Teams - File Sharing

This article will instruct students, faculty, and staff on how to use the file-sharing feature of Microsoft Teams.

What is the file-sharing feature on Teams?

The file-sharing feature in Microsoft Teams allows you to upload, share, and collaborate on files with other members of your team.

Sharing a File in a Chat

  1. Open Microsoft Teams and sign in to your account.

  2. Go to the chat in which you want to share a file.

  3. Click on the "Attach" button in the chat input field:

     

  4. Select the file you want to share.

  5. The file will be uploaded and added to the chat:

  6. You and other members of the chat can now access and collaborate on the file.

Sharing a File in a Channel

  1. Open Microsoft Teams and sign in to your account.

  2. Go to the channel in which you want to share a file.

  3. Click on the "Files" tab at the top of the channel:

     

  4. Click on the "Upload" button to upload a new file:

     

  5. Select the file you want to share.

  6. The file will be uploaded and added to the channel's file library:

     

  7. You and other members of the channel can now access and collaborate on the file.

Collaborating on a File

  1. Open Microsoft Teams and sign in to your account.

  2. Go to the chat or channel in which the file is shared.

  3. Click on the file to open it.

  4. You can now make changes and edits to the file.

  5. To save your changes, click on the "Save" button.

  6. The changes will be saved and synced with other members of the chat or channel.

Accessing Shared Files

  1. Open Microsoft Teams and sign in to your account.

  2. Go to the chat or channel in which the file is shared.

  3. Click on the "Files" tab in the chat or channel.

  4. The file library will display all the files that have been shared in the chat or channel.

  5. Click on a file to open it and access it.

 

The file-sharing feature in Microsoft Teams provides an easy and convenient way to upload, share, and collaborate on files with other members of your team. Whether you're sharing a file in a chat, sharing a file in a channel, collaborating on a file, or accessing shared files, Microsoft Teams allows you to collaborate more with less hassle.
